This month, we invited the community to a new webinar, “AYA and Primary CNS Tumors: Unmet Needs and Opportunities for Collaboration,” by the NCI Cancer Moonshot℠ and Center for Cancer Research Cancer Moonshot programs. We also shared the story of Julio Piña, a patient with anaplastic ependymoma, and his wife Liz who enrolled in a trial and what the process looked like.

In July, we recapped the 2024 ISPNO conference in Philadelphia, where global leaders in pediatric brain and spine tumors collaborated and shared key updates. Meanwhile, a Colorado couple, inspired by successful treatments for their ependymoma, organized the Gray Matter Classic golf tournament to raise funds and awareness for CERN and the National Brain Tumor Society.

In June, the CERN Foundation released the third edition of the Ependymoma Guide. The goal of this guide is to provide basic facts about ependymoma to increase education and awareness about the rare disease. The CERN Foundation and the National Brain Tumor Society commemorated the 2022 Ependymoma Awareness Day during Brain Tumor Awareness Month which included a great virtual event which is now currently available to watch. We ended the awareness month by publishing the 2022 Ependymoma Awareness Outreach Report which included a book launch, and a proclamation signing by Kansas Governor Laura Kelly.

Learn more about Ependymoma Awareness Day activities and read an inspiration story from Tiffany, who was 17 years old when she was diagnosed with an anaplastic ependymoma tumor in her brain.
